HP ZBook Studio X360 G5

What are the Best Convertible Laptops in 2022?

The Studio X360 is the ultimate convertible 2-in-1 workstation, which strikes a perfect balance between productivity and entertainment. The workstation is stylish with a silver-grey exterior and an aluminum lid, which bears the HP signature logo. It has a 15.6-inch UHD display, Intel Core i7-8750H CPU, 8GB RAM, up to 2TB SSD, and lots of connectivity options.

The graphics is handled by the capable NVIDIA Quadro P1000, a discrete GPU with 4GB VRAM. There’s also the integrated Intel® UHD graphics 630 for additional graphics performance. The dual graphics hardware can be switched using the included NVIDIA Optimus technology.

The Quadro P1000 is a workstation-class GPU, capable of delivering outstanding graphics performance in professional applications such as CAD and GPU rendering.

So if you are an engineer and want something that will run your CAD applications on the move, this is your machine. besides, it is ISV certified to provide fast and reliable performance with workstation applications, including manipulation of 3D textures.

The Studio X360 can also withstand vibration, shock, extreme temperatures, and other physical hazards due to its superior engineering. This is because it is MIL-STD 810G certified. This means you can rest assured that this machine will perform reliably in extreme conditions.

It weighs 4.9 pounds and has a size of 14.2×10×0.74 inches. On the left side of the workstation, there are two USB-A 3.0 ports, a security lock slot, a power button, and an optional SIM card slot.

While on the right, there are two Thunderbolt 3 ports – which happen to be one of its highlights, an HDMI video output, an audio jack, an SD card slot, and the AC adapter connector. Speaking of its trade-offs now, the Studio X360 has no place to store the stylus pen, loose hinges, and poor webcam imagery, which provides images with just about 720 pixels.

However, HP provided a plastic clip for the stylus which snaps into the SD card slot to keep it in place. Over to the keyboard now; it lacks a numeric pad and the backlit keys are a bit shallow. However, they are quite satisfactory.

The touchpad also glides and taps smoothly and its touchscreen operations are precise, but it has no buttons on it. The stylus pen is also very effective, with a USB Type C port for charging which means it doesn’t need a battery.

The Studio X360 also has a stunning display with ample brightness, broad viewing angles, and vivid colors. The audio is also pleasant with a loud, clear sound. The battery life can also last up to about 9 hours and for a workstation with such hardware, the Studio X369 doesn’t get crazy hot.

Microsoft Surface Go 2

What are the Best Convertible Laptops in 2022?

The Surface Go 2 is a Windows tablet about the size of an 11-inch iPad Pro. The only significant difference between the Surface Go 2 and its original model, is the increase in screen size. The Go 2 though with gently curving corners, is solidly built with a Dual-Core Intel Core m3 processor. The tablet has a pretty impressive kickstand that works just fine, irrespective of the angle at which it is positioned.

Also, the Surface Go 2 has a micro SD card slot that allows for more storage, a surface connector, a Type C USB port, and a headphone jack.

The camera which is located on top of the screen seems to be one of the few features the Surface Go 2 can boast of, as the imagery appears great, especially on video conferencing. It also has a 10-inch display which is quite small compared to other convertible laptops, with 1800×1200 resolution, 128GB SSD storage, and 8GB memory.

The Surface Go 2 is sadly also very slow and lags behind greatly, especially when too many apps are run at the same time, or an app that is too intense is being run.

The battery life is average, as it can clock up to 10 hours in standard usage scenarios. The keyboard pad is also too flexible and sometimes doesn’t stay put at an angle when you press down on it.

With the keyboard included, the Surface Go 2 costs about $730 and though it still requires lots of upgrades, it is definitely an improvement compared to the original Surface Go as it offers more space and better camera imagery.

HP Elite Dragonfly

What are the Best Convertible Laptops in 2022?

The Dragonfly is simply one of the best business laptops you can get on the market. When it was released, people almost couldn’t believe it was a business laptop, as it has an alluring exterior that one could easily liken to the traditional laptop.

The chassis gives one an illusion of a typical midnight sky, with its stunning blue magnesium exterior and glossy white HP logo at the center. You also wouldn’t have to bother about maintaining the exterior, as it is stain-resistant and easy to wipe due to its oleophobic coating.

The convertible laptop is not only sleek but also offers excellent security features with its fingerprint scanner and IR camera, which is used for facial recognition to log in to Windows Hello.

The gorgeous chassis is also durable as it has been made to undergo several MIL-SPEC durability tests, and as such can withstand external hazards. It also has two 360-degree hinges that allow you to conveniently switch between the clamshell laptop model and the tablet.

There are two models to choose from – the i5 and i7 models. The i5 model is priced lower while the i7 model is priced higher. You have either 8GB or 16GB of RAM, a 1920×1080 resolution touch panel, and a 13.3 inches display screen. This and many more features account for the solid performance and rich display of the Dragonfly.

It also has a feather-weight chassis of 2.5 pounds and 11.9×7.8×0.6-inch dimensions. Moving on to ports now, on the right side of the laptop, there is an HDMI 1.4 port, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and a headphone jack. While on the left, there is a USB 3.1 Type A Port, a nano SIM card slot, and a power button.

The Dragonfly also has an optional stylus pen that has 4,096 points of pressure and offers precise drawing lines. You also wouldn’t have to bother about getting an AAA battery as the stylus is rechargeable, with a USB Type C slot.

One of the downsides of the Dragonfly, however, is its audio. The audio certainly requires more improvement, as the speakers and smart amplifiers do not offer as much bass as one would have wanted. It is quite poor, to say the least.
