I’m thrilled to share my journey into the world of gaming, where I decided to embark on a quest to recreate a PC build like Xbox Series X. Microsoft’s gaming console, released in 2020, captivated me with its extraordinary specifications and cutting-edge hardware. Inspired by its performance and aesthetics, I couldn’t resist the temptation to recreate that experience for myself.

Let’s dive deep into the heart and soul of the Xbox Series X, exploring its mesmerizing specifications and components, and unravel the secrets behind building a PC that matches its prowess. We’ve already covered a similar topic which is to build a PC to match the performance of the Xbox Series S.

In summary, you can build a similar-specced PC to match the performance of the Xbox Series X gaming console. To achieve this, you need to consider the CPU, RAM, and Storage components, in addition to the Power Supply and a suitable case. We delve into this in detail below.

Specifications and Components: Power Unleashed

The Xbox Series X flaunts an eight-core Zen 2 processor, roaring at a clock speed of 3.8 GHz (and a boost up to 3.6 GHz). Its 16GB of GDDR6 RAM and custom RDNA 2 graphics processor, equipped with 52 compute units sprinting at 1.825 GHz, unleash a staggering 12 teraflops of performance. The console’s custom SSD, housing 1TB of storage, ensures lightning-fast load times and can be expanded using proprietary memory cards.

With hardware-accelerated ray tracing, variable-rate shading, and support for up to 120 frames per second, the Xbox Series X offers an immersive gaming experience. And let’s not forget its ingenious cooling system—a marvel in itself—employing a vapor chamber to effortlessly whisk away heat, ensuring peak performance even during marathon gaming sessions.

Unique Features: Gaming Nirvana

The Xbox Series X boasts an array of standout features, setting it apart from other gaming consoles. Quick Resume, for instance, allows me to effortlessly switch between multiple games without enduring the dreaded restart time. It’s pure gaming bliss!

Then there’s Xbox Smart Delivery—an absolute game-changer. This remarkable feature automatically downloads the version of the game optimized for my console’s hardware. It guarantees that I always have the best version of the game, eliminating compatibility worries and performance hiccups. The peace of mind it brings is simply priceless!

And let’s not overlook the backward compatibility that the Xbox Series X embraces. I can relish thousands of Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games on this powerhouse of a console. No need for a separate console—my gaming library just expanded into the vast realms of nostalgia.

Design and Aesthetics: A Sight to Behold

The Xbox Series X is a formidable gaming machine, but you can actually build a similar PC in terms of specs and performance

The Xbox Series X has a striking tower design, reminiscent of a sleek computer tower. Its dimensions of 301 mm x 151 mm x 151 mm give it a commanding presence, weighing in at approximately 4.45 kg.

The console sports an elegant black finish, accentuated by the iconic green Xbox logo atop it. A circular vent adorns the pinnacle, enabling the console’s cooling system to breathe effortlessly. On the front, a USB-A port, a power button, and an eject button for the disc drive beckon my fingertips, while the rear holds two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, an ethernet port, an optical audio port, and a storage expansion slot.

My own PC Build Like Xbox Series X: Unleashing the Power

Now comes the thrilling part— putting together a pc build like Xbox Series X. To achieve this, I must carefully select the components that bring the console’s power to life. Let’s explore the key components that I, or you, or anyone for that matter, need to consider.

Please note that I have carefully selected these components for maximum compatibility and minimal bottlenecking. Bottlenecking is something you should take seriously because it is one of the fundamentals of DIY PC Building. So here goes.

The Processor

For the heart of my PC, I chose the insanely popular and highly recommended AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. Boasting eight cores and a base clock speed of 3.8 GHz (which can be boosted up to 4 GHz), this processor matches the console’s performance stride for stride.

The Graphics Card

For the graphics department, I turned to the formidable AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. With 72 compute units and a base clock speed of 2.015 GHz, this graphics card promises visuals that rival the Xbox Series X. This GPU is also very attractive in terms of cost to performance when compared to similar competing models from NVIDIA.

Storage

Matching the Xbox Series X’s storage prowess, I opted for the lightning-fast Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD with a capacity of at least 1TB. With read speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s and write speeds of up to 3,300 MB/s, my games will load in the blink of an eye.

RAM

To mirror the console’s 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, I chose the reliable Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3600MHz C18. This memory kit ensures smooth multitasking and snappy responsiveness.

Power Supply

A trustworthy power supply unit (PSU) is essential to energize my PC. With the Xbox Series X’s 315W power supply as my benchmark, I opted for the reliable EVGA 750 N1 PSU, delivering 750W of pure power.

Cooling System

To keep my PC running cool even during intense gaming sessions, I turned to the mighty Noctua NH-D15. Its dual-tower design and powerful fans provide exceptional cooling performance, much like the Xbox Series X’s custom cooling system.

Compatibility Considerations: A Seamless Union

Assembling my PC requires careful consideration of component compatibility. Ensuring my chosen motherboard aligns harmoniously with the processor and RAM is vital. Additionally, I must select a case spacious enough to accommodate all the components and facilitate adequate cooling—a crucial element in my gaming rig.

The Assembly Process: Crafting My Gaming Sanctuary

Once I have all the components in hand, the exhilarating assembly process begins. Guided by detailed instructions and equipped with an anti-static wrist strap, I carefully piece together my PC. I install the motherboard, processor, RAM, graphics card, storage, and power supply unit into the case, connecting all the cables with precision. And to ensure my PC remains cool and composed, the Noctua NH-D15 cooling system finds its place in the system.

Here’s a detailed guide I have written to help you put together your PC step by step. It’s simple and straightforward even a 5-year-old can do it. However, if you get stuck at any point, don’t hesitate to reach out to me for help.
